Why Social Distancing Doesn’t Mean You Have to Postpone

It seems, in the past few months, that we’ve moved from lockdown to footloose and back to something in between. As quickly as states began to reopen, suggesting to revelers that the celebrations were back on, sudden spikes in covid-19 cases signaled a return to more stringent safety measures, such as mask requirements and continued emphasis on social distancing. But for those looking

to get their wedding on, social distancing doesn’t have to mean no nuptials.

    New Ways to Celebrate

There’s something in the wedding spirit that loves a challenge, and covid-19 has brought out the creative in the soon-to-be hitched party planners. You may have to rethink the big gathering you once envisioned, but you can still have a truly memorable wedding, even under social distancing restrictions. Here are some ways to celebrate:

    ● The Minimony: this covid-driven term now bouncing around the internet means creating a more intimate wedding plan. Cull your list down to a core group of family and closest friends, find a wonderful small venue, and let the vows fly. The added benefits are you can save money from that big wedding budget that can be reinvested in a high end open cocktail bar or gourmet food. Or you can always throw a party later for those you had to cull from the list.

    ● Hitch Now, Party Later: speaking of delayed parties, some couples are opting to hold a private ceremony now and celebrate with friends and family later after the crisis has passed. Another variation of this is to hold the ceremony via a digital platform for all to see.

    ● Destination Weddings: another way to use those saved wedding funds is to turn your intimate celebration into an adventure. Pick a dream location and give your guests advanced warning that the road (or plane) trip is on. Many popular destinations have now geared up to help couples celebrate in style and covid safety.

    ● The Outdoors I Do: taking your nuptials into the great outdoors is a perfect way to find large spaces that help you space even bigger groups out into that six-foot safety zone. And research suggests that outdoors is the safest place to be to prevent the spread of corona.

    ● Satellite Celebrations: Planning your event where there are multiple areas or rooms can be another effective way to pull off larger groups while maintaining safety. Hold your ceremony outside and then gather guests in smaller groups that the wedding couple can visit while still maintaining safe group sizes. You can even pipe the ceremony into each room via a digital platform and remove the necessity of moving people around.

    ● Creative Alternatives: Okay, why not try something crazy. How about a ceremony viewed from a parking lot where guests stay in their cars and parade past the happy couple afterwards. Or turn that on its head, and let guests spread out in a large open space and revel as the newlyweds move from group to group via decorated golf cart. Get married on a rooftop while others watch from balconies or hold your ceremony in an interior courtyard of a hotel where balconies face inward and where guests can watch from the safety of their rooms.

    ● The Virtual Tying of the Knot: and, of course, as with everything covid these days, you can always choose to hold your wedding, ceremony and all, digitally. For an added touch, create a celebration package you send to guests with favors, perhaps a shared treat, and even a link to a digital register where they can share their well wishes.

    So What’s Likely to Change?

It’s inevitable that should you choose to hold your wedding during covid that some things will be affected by social distancing measures. Here are some things you may want to consider as you plan.

Smaller guest lists are inevitable. This can be particularly tricky if you’ve sent out invitations pre-covid and have to disinvite guests. The good news is that you can blame venues for your size limitations as many have had to reduce capacity to meet covid restrictions. With a little forethought and some diplomacy, you can accomplish the disinvite off without causing offense.

You also need to be prepared to work with masks, provide hand sanitizer or hand-washing stations, and maybe even consider asking guests to sign waivers. Furthermore, you will have to consider spacing issues for seating, for dancing, and for food and drinking areas.

As far as food and drink are concerned, you will probably have to rethink your presentation styles. Although it has been popular recently to serve food buffet style, sharing utensils may not be the best option right now. Better to forego that family style meal or the finger food for individual plate servings. Some caterers are finding ways to create individual portions that don’t require shared utensils, such as ceviche served on an oyster shell or delicious picadores skewered into a melon. Cocktail celebrations can be difficult, but if you’re determined, consider the satellite model of multiple small stations spaced out over a venue rather than one or two large set ups.

Another concern will be that traditional preparation with the wedding party. The safest option is to share preparations via digital conferencing. Hairdressers and makeup artists are taking precautions such as wearing gloves and masks, using disposable applicators where possible, and sterilizing those that are not between usages. If you just need that personal feel, then book a space with multiple rooms where the party can prepare and where the bride and groom can move from room to room to share the experience.

Photography will almost certainly change as well. You will still be able to get those beautiful couples poses, but you will have to rethink large group shots. An experienced wedding photographer should be able to use techniques like staggered line shots or walking shots to make the group photos work.

Be sure to contact us today to see how we can still make your dream wedding a reality.

Why Day-of Coordination Doesn’t Really Exist

Why Day-of Coordination Doesn’t Really Exist

Lately, we have been getting lots of inquiries asking for just “Day-of” services.  Day-of Coordination doesn’t really exist.  Month-of Coordination is the service that is required.

Many couples believe that they can plan their own wedding and simply have a coordinator show up on the day of the wedding and jump in.  Then came the newer planners, who decided to offer this service at a lower price to build a portfolio.  Long ago, we admit we did the same thing, but not for long as we realized that this simply doesn’t work. Keep reading and I will explain.

    Experienced Wedding Planner

Experienced Wedding Planners have been in business for years and are professionals at identifying every potential issue that can arise at your wedding. They are able to manage all vendors prior to and on your wedding day.  They are also very resourceful, problem solvers, and calm under stressful situations. They built relationships with many of the vendors in town, along with venues.  Most importantly, they are licensed and insured.

    Inexperienced Wedding Planner

They are most likely starting up their business and may only have a few weddings under their belt.  Knowledge of contracts and timelines is lacking along with insurance and being licensed.

In order for a Wedding Planner to be successful at your event, the following should be considered:

    1. Your Planner needs to know who all of your vendors are and have read the contracts. They also need to understand each of their duties, what exactly they were contracted for, setup times and start times.  I can’t tell you how many things we catch just by reading the contracts.
    2. The Planner should know all of the aspects of the venue. This is a MUST!  It is mandatory that the planner have a walk through with the venue manager prior to the wedding to finalize the floor plan, load in and out location, electrical outlets, extra equipment, etc.
    3. Planners also are in charge of drafting a timeline for your wedding day. This is distributed to all of your vendors to follow, but may also need to be adjusted in real time if problems arise.
    4. What about rehearsal? Your Wedding Planner will direct your rehearsal.  Do not expect the venue manager to do this unless they are specifically contracted to do so.
    5. And then there are your wedding decorations. The favors, welcome table, cake serving set, escort cards, etc.  Your Wedding Planner will obtain these items from you ahead of time so that they can review and inform you if there is anything missing.

    Costs of a Wedding Coordinator

So the most popular question asked is, why does it cost so much? Let me break it down.

    Contracting Vendors and Obtaining Contracts

    3 Hours

    Review of Contracts

    3-4 Hours

    Venue Walk Through

    2 Hours

    Timeline Creation

    3-4 Hours

    Rehearsal

1 Hour (usually everyone is late so 2 hours realistically)

    Floor Plan Creation

    1-2 Hours

    Other Pre Planning

    1-2 Hours

    Wedding Day

    10-12 Hours

    Total Hours

    24-31 Hours

Note that this doesn’t include business expenses such as assistants, insurance, licenses, and other overhead costs. So next time you ask a Wedding Planner to drop their pricing, you are asking them to work for an average of $4 an hour. Providing Month-of Services allows us to provide the correct level of service and professionalism that allows you to have the best day of your life.

Be in the KNOW…South Carolina Beach Wedding Tips

Destination or Local? Who doesn’t love the beach?

And what better place to have a wedding! Great scenery and if you decide to marry at sunrise or sunset; then what an amazing sight! But before you run out and start picking out the perfect beach spot to have your ceremony; there are something’s you might want to consider.

    Wild Dunes Wedding Reynolds Treasures

    Time of Day

First, what time of day are you considering for your beach
wedding? This is important because of the tide and lighting for photography.
You should know that at high tide you may NOT have much if any beach to have a
ceremony on. In addition, parts of the beaches are more crowded than others.
This is something that your wedding planner will already know!

Secondly, the time of day will also be important; especially
in the summer because it can get HOT; even on the beach. You might think the
beach brings a breeze. That is true but at times it seems like the breeze has
been overtaken by the sun. Your best bet is to hire a wedding planner to
coordinate that for you! OK, so you picked the absolute perfect beach location
    or have you?

    Isle of Palms Beach Wedding

    What about your guests?

Consider the guests for a minute. I know this is your DAY and
it’s all about what you want but have a quick reality check.  How are your
guests going to get to this beach location? Walk there, right? Great, but do
you have older guests that may not be able to walk a 1/2 mile through the sand
to get there? It’s not like they are walking on a solid road. They are going to
have to walk through sand. Not only that, but how far are you going to want to
walk with your hair and make-up in the heat to get to that “perfect beach
location”? So KNOW that a beach ceremony location with easy access usually
    works best.

    Beach Chairs

Do you want a beach ceremony with chairs, decorations and an
arbor? OK, but what about that breeze? Regardless of time of day; there is typically
a breeze. Sometimes it can be ever so slight and perfect while other times it
is so blustery it can knock you sideways.  With that in mind, what do you
want to set up? Chairs?  Chairs can be done, but again the location can
hinder that timing as well as the amount of chairs you want. (side note: most
rental companies have a minimum spend amount which is usually $500 that is not
hit with just chair rentals). If you rent chairs yourself for setup, it can be
very tedious treading through the sand having to carry or wagon half a dozen
chairs at a time. Speaking of time, it is time consuming. So KNOW to plan
enough time to have the beach location set before guests arrive. Or better yet,
get a beach package where you can add
on these options so you everything is done for you!

    Folly Beach Wedding

OK, so what about an arbor? Same thing goes. Plan for enough time but also plan for the fact that depending on the amount of breeze/wind that arbor could come tumbling down. On the other hand why would you want to “decorate” the beach? It possess a beauty all its own. Why cover it up? And then there is the issue of “getting ready”. If you are getting married on the beach, you have to get ready off site. Either at a hotel, rent a beach house or other location you choose. No beach facilities to do that at. Sorry, its a beach! After all is said and done just remember to let your guests KNOW that shoes are optional!

Contact Reynolds Treasures today for your all-inclusive beach package.

Achieve Your Dream Wedding with a Wedding Planner

How Wedding Planners Can Help You Achieve Your Dream Wedding

Planning a wedding can be stressful, even overwhelming at times. After all, this will likely be the largest event you’ve ever hosted in your life, and most of us have little to no experience in the matter. If only there was someone out there… anyone that could help. Oh wait, that’s what wedding planners are for! But aren’t wedding planners only for movie stars? Not quite. In fact, a wedding planner is really quite affordable in the grand scheme of things. If you find yourself ready to elope to escape planning stress, read on and see why a wedding planner is your perfect solution.

Planners can help make wedding planning stress-free

Weddings require a lot of research, phone calls, negotiations, and so on. When you have a wedding planner, much of this can be done for you. In many cases, it’s easier for vendors to communicate with a planner. Why? Because many are often reluctant to burden couples with last-minute details as the wedding fast approaches. A planner can work out these issues so you can focus on looking forward to and enjoying your big day.

Planners can help make your wedding dreams come true

Once a planner is aware of your wedding dreams, they have one mission: making it come true. That is, after all, what they’re being paid to do. Unlike the average couple who probably doesn’t have a background in wedding planning, most wedding planners take on more than one wedding per day or per weekend. Therefore, they’re able to leverage professional experience and vast pre-established networks to ensure your day goes exactly to your liking. It will take a huge load off your shoulders knowing there is someone out there willing to see your journey through from beginning to end.

Planners can help keep your budget in check

One of the main responsibilities of any planner is being able to do the most with whatever budget is given. Given their extensive experience, a planner knows how to make a dollar stretch and when a vendor’s quote is too high. They’ll also be able to recommend which vendors and services align perfectly with your preferences, making sure you get the best for your money. If you have a lot of time until the big day, consider utilizing mobile banking apps that can expedite your savings each month before the wedding. You’ll be able to explore more possibilities and allow your planner more creative freedom with a larger budget.

Planners can help save your money

Many planners manage to get a vendor discount. Why? Because planners give vendors repeat business. Vendors will want to make sure their services are meeting or exceeding expectations so that they can make sure they’re contacted again. When multiple vendors are giving your planner a better rate, it can amount to huge savings overall!

Contact us today so that we can begin planning the wedding of your dreams.

A Modern Twist on Wedding Traditions

A Modern Twist on Wedding Traditions

In the 1800’s, wedding ceremonies were mainly conducted in churches followed by a small reception at the bride’s parents home.  In the early 1900’s, sleeveless dresses would have been considered inappropriate, but anything goes today.  Every decade wedding traditions tend to evolve and customization is the key for couples today. This is getting harder with todays busy lifestyle. We have listed a few ways to shop for your wedding online.

    The Bling

    Reynolds Treasures Ring

Ohhh… the ring shopping!  While this is an exciting time for the ladies (I mean you get to go ring shopping, what is there not to like), you should also consider online shopping too!  Cutting out the middle man, you can get fantastic quality at phenomenal prices. Be sure to check out Blue Nile Wedding Ring Options.

    Suit and Tux Rentals

Did you know you don’t even have to leave your home to rent your wedding attire?  Yes, you heard me right.  This is a great way to ensure the bridal party has that great look, even when they live all across the country. Be sure to check out Generation Tux and contact us for your discount code.

    Centerpieces and Décor

Reynolds Treasures Decoration I’ll bet the first place you look to get wedding décor idea’s is Pinterest.  Well, if you haven’t seen the show “Nailed It”, you may want to consider watching!  While many of the decorations look wonderful, implementing them can be a challenge.  In addition, after your wedding, what do you do with your decorations?  Many try to sell them, but that too can be a challenge, not to mention all of the time that went into buying the supplies and making the decorations.  We recommend renting your décor centerpieces or purchasing floral for your big day.  Don’t know what to do with all of the floral after?  Be thoughtful and ask your wedding planner to donate it to a local retirement/nursing home.
